Decorative Christmas Plates are sold widely at Christmas time but for the collector, the older plates hold more charm. They are kind of hard to find in really good condition but hold out for one that isn't chipped. If it's gold-plated, make sure the gold is still there.

Of course, Christmas plates are not the only type or ornament plate that people love to collect. Some plate collectors focus on first edition plates, for example, whether Christmas-related or not.

A very popular line of limited edition collectible plates comes from the Bradford Exchange.

Did you know that, until 1895, a limited edition plate didn't really exist? The mold for that plate had to be broken, so that no others like it would ever be made....you can imagine that a potter would not want to do that with a popular plate. I haven't come across any lately but you never know when that might change. a collectible Christmas Santa plate, gold-plated.

Christmas is one of the few times each year that our family goes all out. And I do mean ALL OUT. The spread of food is usually quite amazing, and almost all home-cooked from scratch. We usually rent the ruritan hall in our town because we have so many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family who attend.

If Christmas is special to you, you may be among those who love to collect Christmas Collectibles. I'm happy to email you a larger picture with more detail if you have an interest in a particular item.

This page will list different holiday items as I find them so if you are looking for a specific Christmas plate, or Christmas ornament, please let me know. I come across them all the time but can't afford to buy all that I see but if I know someone is looking for a specific thing, I'll look for it.

gold-plated christmas plateGold-Plated Santa Plate - This lovely porcelain Christmas plate features Santa Claus, busy making out his list of who is naughty or nice. It is 22 carat gold-edged and the gold is in tact all the way around the plate. Santa also looks to have held up quite well. There might be a slight absense of red color on the curve of his hat but then again, it may have been painted that way. It is not dated but is marked copyright, Jasco and Japan. This fine Christmas Collectible is $7.50 plus shipping so if interested, please email me at neva.howell at gmail.com

Old Mickey Mouse Christmas Ornament - I have been unable to determine the age of this old Mickey Mouse ornament but it is marked copyright, Disney Company, made in China. It is in fair condition, missing a little paint on the nose and has scuffed area on one boot where black paint is missing. If anyone knows the date of this collectible, I'd appreciate that information. I don't really know how to price it so if you want it, email for a larger picture and also make me an offer. It is a bit dirty but I'm unsure how to remove the dirt without also possibly removing paint. If anyone knows how best to clean it, I'd appreciate that info as well. My email, again, is neva.howell at gmail.com

Cabbage Patch Kids Christmas Angel First of all, this is about the cutest CPK I've ever seen. What may look like a blotch on her little cheek in the photo is actually holly sprigs painted on the face. She has angel wings and a holly sprig bow in front. Just adorable. She's dated 1995, by Mattel. Her hair is a bit matted but the bow is still there. Her deep blue eyes are perfect and vividly colored. Her outfit is surprisingly clean. There is only one small, brown spot on one sleeve, hardly noticable. If you collect cabbage patch kids or not, this Christmas Angel is a wonderful find and will delight your visitors over the holiday season. She is $10 plus shipping.

CBK Christmas Miniatures These are the most adorable little CBK miniatures. The first little CBK, going from left to right on your screen, wears a cute plum-colored jumper with a pink sash and has a pink bow in her hair. She carries a green present. She is marked copyright, 1992 O.A.A. one one foot and on the other foot, China plus GG 56. The middle CBK miniature holds a candy cane and sports an orange band uniform with yellow buttons and shoulder pads, blue band hat with orange plume and cute blue marching boots. Her marks are on her tush and indicate copyright, 1994, O.A.A. Corp., Inc., China W1 1-5. The third Christmas CBK miniature is dressed for bed in a pink and blue nighty trimmed in white. You can see her blue bunny slippers peeking out from the hem. She carries a green stocking in one hand and a yellow teddy bear in the other. She's ready to hang her stocking and toddle off to bed on Christmas Eve. She is marked on the bottom with a copyright of 1992, O.A.A. 55 plus China W1 30. The cost for these 3 adorable CBK Christmas collectibles is $10 plus shipping.

The history of Christmas: Ask a Christian about Christmas and you will learn that this holiday started in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, over 4,000 years ago. While it is true that "Christmas" itself is a reflection of the celebration of that time, there are even earlier traditions of celebrating during the winter months. For example, those in Scandinavia celebrate something called Yule, at about the same time of year that Christmas is being celebrated. In German history, we see reference to the honoring of the pagan God Oden. But for most, Christmas is a time of giving and, for Christians, a time of remembering the birth of Jesus.
