| Look to right for....Porcelain Dolls |
How to clean a porcelain doll - The unfortunate thing about finding porcelain treasures is that, often, they were packed away
for years and now are dusty or dirty. So, you've found an exquisite treasure, a beautiful doll but it needs cleaning....what to do?
I have been lucky in that the few porcelain dolls I've found were in superior shape but there were many others I would have bought if I had known they
would clean up ok. So, I started researching the subject.
I found doll collectors who use dishwashing liquid to clean their dolls while others use formula 409. One collector used a product called Goof Off but I've never heard of it
so don't know about that. Another collector mentioned using soft scrub, though not the type with bleach. Avoid bleach in any product chosen. I use Orange Goop on just about every surface and so far it hasn't bothered anything but I have not yet gotten the courage to try it on porcelain.
The bottom line is that it seems ok to clean porcelain with any normal cleaning product, from what I have read.
Of course, it's never a good idea to rub hard on painted areas, like the blush on the face. I find that a q-tip is just terrific for cleaning around eyes, in mouth, and around ears.

Porcelain, bisque and other collectible dolls
When I first started looking at porcelain dolls, to add to my website here, I fell in love with the detail that I saw. I could quickly see why they were so collectible. I don't have a big selection of porcelain dolls or bisque dolls yet but
I plan on adding to this section soon.
Patriotic Gal - I've done a lot of searching to try and find out who this little lady is but have been unsuccessful. She's just beautiful, with lips that actually look moist and eyelashes glued on rather than painted on.
She is in excellent condition. Her hair looks and feels real. Her dress is clean and unfaded, as far as I can tell. Her little blue shoes are in great shape too and she comes on her own stand. There is slight staining to her white hose but nothing at all major.
This adorable porcelain doll is about 12 inches tall and comes with the white stand you see pictured. She is $25 plus shipping and handling.
If you have additional information on this doll, I'd love to know it. You can also email for a larger picture of this or any doll on this page, showing more detail to neva.howell at gmail.com.
Sweetness in red velvet - This doll is truly exquisite and in excellent shape. Her gorgeous red velvet dress is stunning and draped with faux mini-pearls. There are no tears or stains. There is one spot, about the size of a small nailhead, that may possibly be a little faded but even that
is so minute as to be questionable. It may just be one spot of difference in the fabric. I'm pretty picky. Someone else probably would never see it
She wears a hairnet and looks Swedish to me, or Hungarian maybe. Her blonde hair is also beautifully coiffed, braided around the head in the back, and in excellent condition.
This exquisite porcelain doll stands about 14 inches tall and comes with the white stand you see pictured.
Plus....She winds up and plays music while her head and hands move in peaceful rhythm. Truly a beautiful doll. She is $30 plus shipping and handling.
Bradley Dolls
I fell in love with these dolls when I saw one in a thrift store recently. I didn't buy it because I didn't know what they were, or what they were worth. I sure won't make that mistake again!!! When I went back, the doll was gone. So I bought these two immediately, when I found them later. The Bradley dolls were popular in the 70's and they are quite unique. The heads are loose and move back and forth. The dolls are extremely light and characteristically, these beautiful ladies have large eyes and blonde hair, though darker haired versions were made.
Golden-haired Southern Belle Bradley Doll
She is exquisite. That's really the only word to describe her.
This Bradley Doll is in very good shape for her age, with only one snag to the white silk border of her dress and very slight sun fading to back of her red dress, barely noticable. Eyes, cheek blush and mouth colors all vivid.
Comes with stand. No tags. $15 plus shipping.
 Miss Amethyst Bradley Doll
About half the size of the southern beauty in red above, Miss Amethyst is a petite beauty and is in excellent condition with tags and labels on bottom of stand.
A vision in purple, she holds a basket of flowers and her blonde hair is almost perfectly styled
Miss Amethyst is a real find for the Bradley Doll collector because all her tags are in excellent shape, as well as Miss Amethyst herself. $30 plus shipping.
