Interesting Disney Facts:

Mickey Mouse could have been Mortimer Mouse. That's the original name that Walt Disney came up with, way back in 1928 when he started working on the idea of a cartoon mouse. Somehow, Mortimer doesn't have the ring of Mickey, does it?

We have Walt Disney's wife, Lillian, to thank for suggesting the change.

The first Mickey Mouse cartoon created by Walt Disney was called Plane Crazy but he couldn't find a distributor willing to back it.

Next, he created Gallupin' Gaucho and then Steamboat Willie.

They always say the third time is a charm and it certainly proved true in this case because Steamboat Willie was a huge success. And the rest of Mickey Mouse is history.

It was amazing to me to discover that even the little mini-figurines that came with McDonald's and Burger King kid's meals were collectible. I had no idea.

mickey mouse collectibleDisneyana Lot - This lot is older and more valuable than most of the ones in the huge lot above. This collection consists of a Minnie Mouse Roly-Poly, a neat Minnie Mouse glitter wand (still has liquid inside and glitter), an old Mickey Mouse rattler, a Christmas snow globe featuring Donald Duck carrying presents (still has liquid inside and works when turned upside down and back), and a Space Mountain view from Disneyland's 40th anniversary promotions. The entire lot is $10 plus shipping. If you just want one, the items are $5 a piece so you save $15 by buying them all. Condition at least fair or better.

old mickey mouse dollOld Mickey Mouse Doll This Mickey is wearing fabic clothing. The clothing is a little dingy from age but in tact. Mickey is showing his age as well but still has pretty much all his paint. For collectors who might know the significance of this, Mickey's shirt has a cloth tag which indicates the top was made for Walt Disney Distributing Co. and was made in Buena Vista, Florida. This collectible is $10 plus shipping.

collectible banksMinnie Mouse Bank / Mickey Mouse Bank These collectible banks will be sold together or separately. The Minnie Mouse Bank stands about eleven inches tall and is good shape. mickey mouse tootsie toyOld Mickey Mouse Tootsie Toy Bubble Blower - Made in 1986, this Tootsie Toy has screw off head and bubble maker still inside though no liquid left. Tootsie toy has one scrape down back where paint is missing. His cute littel tail curves in back and red color of pants still quite vivid. Nose is very black, which is unusal. Usually, I find the noses lacking paint on these age Disney collectibles. Only $5.00 plus applicable shipping.

mickey mouse collectibleMickey's Happy Lite - Dated 1981, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Combined Shows. The label across the bottom reads Walt Disney's World of Ice. Both Happy Lites are in good shape, with slight scuffing here and there and extremely minimal paint loss. Batteries not included. Cost for these Happy Lites are $7.00 each or both for $12, plus shipping.

About the World on Ice in 1981 - This year in Disney history, the World on Ice was hosted at Madison Square Gardens in New York. Popular Disney characters in this show included Pinocchio, Geppeto, Goofy and of course, Mickey Mouse. Championship skaters Vern Taylor and Linda Fratianne provided the most skillful and exciting skating that year. The 1981 World on Ice show was directed and choreographed by Bob Paul. Jerry Bilik was the music director and writer.
